Tres Cruces

At 109 km to the southeast of the city of Cusco by the partially asphalted road to the village of Paucartambo (about 4 hours by car). From here we should continue 45 km more as far as the village of Tres Cruces (2 hours and 30 minutes by 4x4automovile by a road in bad conditions).

Tres Cruces is a natural belvedere located in the border of the Biosphere Reserve of Manu. In this place we admire the white ray of light: a phenomenon produced when the sun appears on the horizon. Light then goes through the wet atmosphere and spreads as it would be passing by a prism.

The result are three suns, one of them jumps from one place to another. This especial movement of solar light happens during the sunrise of the winter solstice on June 22nd.
